Wedding Invitations!!

So I went half DIY for my invitations. After looking into the prices of buying card stock and all the required things for making invitation completely from scratch, I decided it was cheaper for buy an Invitation Kit on Amazon. I spent $30 for 50 invitations, which I think is pretty good (not including stamps, which I will talk about).
This is the box that it all came in

It only took me about five minutes to type out the inviations and RSVP cards. I just used Microsoft Word for the invitations, making the paper size 8.5 x 5.5 however for the RSVP cards I did use the template that you can do online through Wilton since you print two cards on one page and then tear it in half. It was incredibly easy and turned out great.

Then you simply put the invitations into the sleeves and put the ribbon around it! The ribbon came with little sticky squares to hold it together with the bow, but they didn't work very well so I got out the trusty hot glue gun and just put a little dot where all the sticky squares were.

And tada!! Invitations!! Next, stamps. This seems pretty mundane I suppose, but I was incredibly excited when I found out the post office actually has wedding stamps!! I took an invitation in to get it weighed to see how much it would cost to ship them all and the wonderful man working there pulls out 66 cent stamps with wedding cakes on them and then forever stamps with white roses for the RSVP cards. I was incredibly happy. So I put all the stamps on my envelopes and sealed them all up using a little sponge-type tool I got for two bucks at walmart (because licking 50 envelopes is no fun).

And they are all ready to be dropped off at the post office! Easy, beautiful and cheap wedding invitations!!!

Projects Already Done

Before starting this blog I had already finished a few of my wedding projects. So here is the overview of them and how much they cost me.

Bouquets

I made my bouquets with silk flowers I bought on ebay. I spent about $130 on ebay buying the flowers and a kit that included all the silver items. Then I spent another $12 dollars at our local Wal-Mart buying the blue and purple ribbons. I have a lot of leftover flowers and ribbons to use on other projects too! In addition to that, I also used duct tape and quilt batting that I already had to make the handles, and of course my trusy hot glue gun.
When this picture was taken I still needed to add the peacock feathers. Those were $13 on ebay for I believe 100 feathers. So again, I still have a lot left to decorate with!

Flowergirl Baskets and Wreaths

The baskets were originally plain white ones from Wal-Mart that cost me $10 each. I simply added ribbons and beads left over from the bouquets to make them match the rest of the wedding. The head wreaths were made out of floral wire and craft butterflies from The Dollar Tree ($2), leftover ribbon and feathers, and small decorations from Wal-Mart that cost around $4 for each. Making each wreath cost me only $5.50

The start of a Wedding

So here is the short version of the story. My fiance and I have a 7 month old son and have been trying to plan our wedding. Originally we had a budget and quite a few details worked out, but due to family issues we lost all of that and had to start over with nothing but my dress. I was extremely depressed for a couple months every time I thought about the wedding because I couldn't see how it was over going to happen with our lack of money. But it is starting to come together and I am starting to get excited!

I see these blogs about how people have done weddings for 100 guests with only $10,000. As if that is a budget wedding!!! Maybe for some people, but not for us. We have maybe $2000 dollars, but I think we can do it!

So here is how I am creating my dream wedding (or something close to it) using only the money two college students with a baby can scrounge up.
